Today -- this very day -- is the day the Lord has made.
He made it with us and our good in mind, knowing all it would hold for us. Each day is His gift to us, another opportunity for all things -- and our reaction to all things -- to work together for the good of God's glorious purpose to conform us to the image of His dear Son. At the beginning of the day we can receive it and all that may be in it as a gift from our Father's hand.
I find it greatly helpful to take the gift of each day, one day at a time, as a jewel from Heaven's treasure vaults. This day, today, is rich with the beauty of God in creation, with the goodness of God in provision for our basic needs and beyond, with the amazing grace and enabling of God for all we have to do.
Also the day holds uncertainty, pain, increasing difficulty and I find much benefit in considering every circumstance as a gift to aid in my pursuit of deeper intimacy with God. I have to constantly remind myself to do this.
We can fill the day with repentance, love, obedience and worship, then, at the end of the day, give it back to the Lord as our love-gift to Him. That is another gift -- that the Almighty Sovereign Creator stoops with joy to receive our gifts of love.
Each day is a marvelous reminder of the awesome, radiant gift of knowing that we were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).
BEFORE SIN CAME INTO THE WORLD, WE WERE CHOSEN!!!
Today -- this very day -- is the day the Lord has made (Psalms 118:24) and we have so many reasons to rejoice TODAY.
