I need to daily remind myself about BEING what I've BECOME --- a Christian.
I look at the Life the Lord Jesus lived and I remember that He said, "I can of My own self do nothing. The Father Who lives in Me, He does the work." (Jn.5:30, 14:10) This was the principle He lived by and it was effective because of the attitude He adopted.
The Principle:
- God is the Source of His own activity and He works through Me.
The Attitude:
- I let Him. I simply make myself available to Him and, whatever the circumstances, count on His adequacy in those circumstances, whether it's feeding 5000, preaching a sermon, washing feet or facing crucifixion.
Jesus, A MAN, approved of God by miracles and wonders and signs which GOD DID by Him (Acts 2:22).
Since Jesus is prepared to be to me now by the Holy Spirit, all that the Father was to Him then by the Holy Spirit, I can choose to live by the same principle and adopt the same attitude.
AND IT WILL REVOLUTIONIZE MY LIFE.
It's the very Life that the Lord Jesus lived then that the Holy Spirit wants to demonstrate in me now. Because --- the Life that Jesus lived qualified Him for the death that He died; and the death that He died qualifies me for the Life that He lived.
All I have to do is make myself available to the Lord Jesus, in total dependence on Him, so that the Holy Spirit can teach my mind, control my emotions, direct my will and govern my behaviour.
Our humanity clothes Divinity and we can be a suit of clothes for Jesus in which He can express the Life of the Beloved Son in Whom God is well pleased.
My faith is not demonstrated by what I do for God but by what He does for and through me. My faith simply lets the Object of my faith get into action on my behalf.
If anything will cause our hearts to be smitten and humbled, it is God's intention that when our lives on earth are over, it should be said of us that, "the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us."
Christ's death for us makes us fit for Heaven; His Life in us makes us fit for earth on the way to Heaven.
It has been said that all there is of God is available to the one who is available to all there is of God.
