Have you ever considered pearls and how they are produced? A pearl starts off as a pain in an oyster's stomach when a cruel, jagged particle of sand gets under the shell. There is piercing, tearing pain but the Creator has not been caught off guard. He has already prepared for this contingency. From within the oyster's body, a soothing balm begins to flow which coats the unrelenting intruder and eases the pain. So a pain, covered by the provision of Almighty God, becomes a pearl.
It's the same with us. We experience the shock of fresh hurt, sometimes sorrow upon sorrow, and then Satan intrudes with his fiery darts, attempting to cause pain which will destroy us. But God takes those very things, transforms their purpose and produces pearls. Every hurtful thing in your life, covered by the provision of Almighty God, is producing eternal pearls, everlasting jewels; pearls to beautify you and glorify Him forever. The lustre of the Saviour's Presence turns pains into pearls. Long after our memories of pain have faded, the pearls will continue to reflect the radiance of His never-failing love.
God's unchanging love for you is the eternal constant in all the inconsistencies of daily life. When your heart is filled with tears, I pray that the glory of Christ will transform every tear into a rainbow.
