Mary

I remind myself again that I can learn much from Mary.  (John 2:3-8)
Did Mary actually expect Jesus to do something special to meet the need?  Think carefully about her words.  What did she tell Jesus to do?
She didn't tell Him to do anything; she simply reported the problem.  Is that how I pray, or are many of my prayers filled with instructions for God?  Do I sometimes talk to the Lord as if, even though He has all the power, I've got all the wisdom?  Mary was willing to let Jesus do whatever He pleased, and she trusted Him to do what was right.  She brought the problem to Jesus and He took command and solved the problem.
The servants didn't argue that they were too busy serving guests, they didn't point out that the problem was wine and not water; they simply did exactly what Jesus said.  But, why did they?
They did what Jesus said because of what Mary said!  How wonderful it would be to have such a godly character that my words would lead others to trust Jesus without question.
The quality of Mary's conversations with Jesus determined the worth of her conversations with others.
Yes, there is much I can learn from Mary.  In the way she lived -- what she did spoke so loud that her words were recognized as truth.  In the way she handled problems -- because she was willing to let the Lord deal with them, He took over and solved them.It would be very wise for me to adopt her attitude and follow her advice; "Whatever He says to you, do it!"
Let us not miss the wonderful fact that as the servants obediently served the "water," a miracle happened; a miracle which took place with their co-operation!  Whenever we obey God we assist Him in performing a miracle.
