Who is this Baby in the manger? (Luke 2:11) - a Saviour Who is Christ the LORD.
We often hear the question, "Have you made Jesus LORD?" We can't. It's too late. God has already made this Jesus both LORD and Christ (Acts 2:36). We cannot receive WHAT Jesus gives and refuse WHO He is.
Yes, He is Saviour but He is also LORD. I cannot have Him as Saviour while refusing to submit to His LORDSHIP. (Romans l0:9) - You will be saved if you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is LORD and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Yielding to His LORDSHIP simplifies all the decisions, directions and service of my life. Of course I need to pray for guidance but I will make no independent decisions.
Certainly we are always learning and growing; we don't become instantly perfected or sinless at salvation. Submitting to His LORDSHIP means continually yielding all I know of myself to all I know of Jesus Christ the LORD. He is Christ the Messiah, the One Who came to destroy Satan and His works (1 John 3:8, Hebrews 2:14).
There is awesome power in a Christian fully surrendered to the LORDSHIP of Jesus Christ, a power which makes Satan tremble.
(Revelation 12:11) They overcame Satan by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. What was that testimony?
JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.
HE RULES, HE REIGNS.
There is no doubt that we need the power and fullness of the Holy Spirit to be fully surrendered to the LORD Jesus Christ. Dr. Adrian Rogers made a noteworthy comment about Ephesians 5:18 -- Be not drunk with wine but be filled with the Spirit. (As you know, the original says, be being filled with the Spirit -- because it is to be a continual filling). He said that not to be filled with the Spirit is a worse sin than being drunk with wine ... BECAUSE ... if we do what we ought to do, we won't do what we ought not to do; but if we do what we ought not to do, it is because we're not doing what we ought to do.
We need never fear what the devil does if we know Who Jesus is!!!
