Jeremiah wants to take us to the potter's house

There never has been and never will be another person just like you.

I am going with him and I hope you will join us.  It should be very interesting (Jeremiah 18:1-4) and I’m looking forward to what I can learn.  Shortly after we arrived there Dr. C. Stanley dropped in and informed us that the clay must be on the centre of the wheel and that the Potter dips his hands in water to reduce friction.  The Potter looks at the shapeless lump of clay but in his mind’s eye he sees the finished product, the beautiful creation He has planned.  Something has gone wrong – the forming clay is spoiled, and I expected the Potter to discard it.  But no - - he removed the clay, puts it back on the wheel and continues to work with it.  He has total control.  If he feels bits of wood or leaves or gravel, etc. He must remove the foreign bodies or else the clay cannot be molded as the Potter desires.  Nothing else can be mixed in with the clay.  He increases or lessens his pressure according to what is needed for the pattern in his mind to develop.  Oh, you are here; I’m so glad you decided to come.

Now let’s consider our personal relationship with the Master Potter, the Creator of everything and beauty drips out of His fingers.  If we truly want God’s will – want to be in the centre of His wheel/will so that He can mold us according to the individual plan He had for each one of us before the foundation of the world - - then we must surrender ourselves to Him without reservations or conditions or questions about the process.  He will never give up on us and will work patiently to remove the foreign elements.  He dips His hands in love and brings into our lives circumstances and conditions that will cause the right amount of pressure needed for our molding.  He is in total control.  We are not to question what He is molding us into and for what service (unseen or public) He is fitting us.  Have you ever said – “Not this, I want to have his gifts” – or – “No, I want to be like her”?  Who are you (Isaiah 29:16, Isaiah 5:9, Romans 9:20-21) to contradict God?  Knowing that the Master Potter dips His hands in love and always has our good in mind, how could there be any friction between us?  If there is, it proves that there are still foreign elements of the flesh remaining in the clay that we are.  The Holy Spirit can put to death in us the things that were never in Jesus - - if we are willing.

We should be so thankful that God loves us so much that He purposes (Romans 8:29) to conform us to the image of His Son.  He will never kick us to the curb.  His love compels Him to work all things together to make us according to His plan and purpose for our eternal benefit.

God has no duplicates – not in fingerprints and not in persons.  You are special, precious and personal to God.  There never has been and never will be another person like you.  Think about it.  Would you rather be just a copy (maybe one of many) of somebody else – OR – one of the Master Potter’s beautiful originals?
