I was buzzing around my kitchen, when these words of Jesus popped into my mind, "He that has seen Me has seen the Father."
Hard on their heels came more of His words, "As the Father sent Me, so send I you."
Awesome thoughts struck me, riveting me with deep implications. Does it really mean that it could ever be said of me that ... he that has seen me has seen Jesus?!!!? I know there is a deep longing in my heart to be like Jesus. Everyday I pray that He will increase and I will decrease until it is all of Christ and none of me.
The desires of my heart are:-
-- to be a branch so pruned that I will bear only the fruit produced by the True Vine.
-- to be a mirror so free of dirt and distortions that I will reflect the pure beauty of the Altogether Lovely One.
-- to have a heart so undivided that nothing can live in it which does not have its source in God.
-- to have an ever-deepening faith which sees every circumstance in life as part of God's tremendous plan to conform me to the image of His dear Son.
The old chorus rings so frequently in my heart and mind:
Oh to be like Thee, Oh to be like Thee,
Blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness,
Stamp Thine own image deep in my heart.
Wondrous, transcendent truth .... Every time the risen Lord Jesus lives His life through a believer, the Word is made flesh and dwells among us.
I am satisfied with Jesus; yet my longing continues for more and still more of Him.
