Where do we go when the heart is made sick by hope deferred again and yet again? To the only reliable Source, the Word of God; the only place of steadfast security and unchanging Providence.
When I don't understand my circumstances, am I loyal to Jesus; loyal enough to truly believe that He engineers my circumstances? Am I learning to worship Him no matter what?
God knows how much pressure we can take, and in this test of loyalty we begin to learn the healing action of faith and the ministry of pain. I listened to the answer of Jesus when Mary said they had looked for Him for three days (Luke 2:48-49).
He said, "Don't you know that I must be in My Father's house and occupied about My Father's business?"
How does that help me? The Holy Spirit pointed out to me that the abiding Reality for us should be God and that we are to look upon life as being in our Father's house. The Lord Jesus now indwells us; the Son of God lives in His Father's house ... in us! We are where He lives (John 14:23).
Therefore the affairs of the Father's house are the details and circumstances of our lives.
When the disciples were troubled and tormented by the conditions of the sea, (Mark 6:48) Jesus came to them, WALKING ON THAT VERY SEA! Everything over their heads was under His feet. The same waves that terrified them, He trod under foot. Did you hear what He said to those weary, frightened disciples?
Are you troubled, weary, disappointed, frightened?
Listen to Him say to you,
"I AM ... and all I AM, you've got. You'll never need more and you never have to make do with less. I'm so glad that Jesus is still occupied with the affairs of His Father's house.
That means calm in the storm, courage in uncertainty and determined faith that His very personal, all-wise love and all-powerful care will never fail.
