We need to look at the eternal things beyond, because the actual things in life are sordid and decaying and twisted and wrong.
If our hopes are being disappointed just now, it means that they are being purified. Oswald Chambers said, "There is nothing noble the human mind has ever hoped for or dreamed of that will not be fulfilled."
We must not jump to conclusions too quickly; many things lie unsolved. Perhaps our biggest test is to remain spiritually tenacious when God looks as if He is totally indifferent. Psalm 119:50,52,57 -- This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction, that Your Word has revived me and given me life. When I have earnestly recalled Your ordinances from of old, O Lord, I have taken comfort. You are my portion, O Lord. In the difficult circumstances of the present, pain works for us an eternal hope. Job 11:16-18 – You will forget your misery; you will remember it as waters that have passed away. And your life will be brighter than the noonday, its darkness will be like the morning. And you will have confidence because there is hope; you will be protected and take your rest in safety.
And the great wonder of it all is that when we are most satisfied and joyful in God, He is most glorified in us.
