Honour

Okay, Peter; this time I hear you loud and clear.
Have you ever said to yourself? --- I know its right to pray but do my prayers really accomplish anything?  With all the huge happenings in the world, how could my feeble prayers make a difference?  Who am I that God should answer my prayers, whether for my personal world or around the globe?
Oh, look!  People are gathering around a lame beggar outside the temple.
Come with me as I join the crowd and try to see what is going on (Acts 3:13).
I can see a couple of our friends, John and Peter, and Peter is speaking to the group.
Listen!  Wow!    A miracle has just occurred.  The man who was lame is leaping like a gazelle and dancing for joy.  Peter is explaining that this healing has been given not because the crippled beggar deserved it, not because Peter deserved it, but God did it to honour and glorify His Son.
Did you get that?  God answered prayer to HONOUR AND GLORIFY HIS SON.
Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, has paid the price, earned the right, richly deserves the honour which comes to Him when God answers prayer.  If God glorifies His Son by answering our prayers, surely we honour Him by praying.
I had much to think about as I was walking away.  Peter leaned over and whispered in my ear.
He said, "The power in prayer is guaranteed because of the purpose for prayer.
God wants to, intends to, must honour His beloved, all-glorious Son."
Let us pray bigger and farther than ever and join the Sovereign God in increasing opportunities to honour His Son.  After all, isn't that what we truly desire?
How encouraging to realize that this is what praying is all about.
Got it, Peter.  Thank you!

       With love & prayers,
