It was early morning and I was kneeling in prayer. Suddenly these words filled my thinking, "Healing God's heartbreak." Then, urged on by my faltering imagination, my mind began to travel. Heaven was ablaze with joy. Excitement poured from every corner. The angels exulted in jubilation and the seraphim cried "Holy."
God had just completed His work on His two masterpieces, His originals, His highest creation, prototypes of a marvelous race who would populate the treasured planet, Earth.
These creatures, male and female, created by God's own loving hands, bore His image, they reflected His very own moral character. Everything they did, every choice they made, would affect every human being to come. What was true of them would become true of every individual who was yet to be born. And Heaven exploded with joy and praise. (Proverbs 8:30-31).
But ... from the far reaches of space another creature observed, a malevolent being, made even more sinister by the tattered remnants of former beauty. Seething with hatred and writhing in a veritable paroxysm of rage, Lucifer plotted with his wicked minions. He would use every evil scheme and insidious subtlety to smash the joy of Heaven and deface the Divine image in the glorious creatures; thus ultimately destroying the human race.
The angels were stunned into agonized silence before the grief of their Sovereign and the cherubim took up flaming swords.
BUT -- God so loved the world AND -- Jesus so loved the Father.
Jesus was heard to say, "Father, We already have a plan and We will execute it."
The angels were startled into amazed consternation as they tried to envision Heaven without Jesus, because they heard Him speak again.
"Father, I cannot bear Your pain at the marring of Your choicest, most beloved handiwork.
To heal Your heartbreak I will do whatever it takes, I will pay whatever it costs, I will suffer the total wrath of outraged Holiness. With My arms opened wide on a Cross, I will redeem all who will believe for the restoration of the Divine image."
Then the angels began to understand that the Radiant Prince of Glory is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. They began to see that just as everything that happened in the first Adam passed on to every human, just so everything that is true of Jesus, God counts as true of everyone who is found "IN HIM."
Therefore, I am crucified with Christ, the wages of sin have been paid in full and I have been invaded by Resurrection Life.
Throughout my life the process will continue to restore the Divine image until that triumphant day when God calls me Home. Then the restoration will be complete because when we see HIM we shall be like Him (I John 3:2).
And never again will we come short of His glory! My short trip to Heaven was exhilarating. I think I should make more such trips.
