THE GOLDEN YEARS
Older people often say somewhat disparaging, half-humourous things about the "golden years." Al made just such a remark at breakfast the other day. As I started to answer him, I was amazed by what came out of my mouth. It was not what I was thinking -- it was just as if someone else had said it. I thought it was beautiful and I knew it was from the Lord.
What I said was:
The declining years really are the golden years and what makes them golden is that they are the very threshold of Heaven.
