With all the tremendous happenings in the world, does JESUS have time for me?
Did the Samaritan woman (John 4:7) have any idea that today's trip to the well would be any different from dozens of others? Jesus was at the well deliberately, but to the woman it was just a casual, even if surprising, encounter. So many people met Jesus in this way, with no planned intention on their part. What is interesting is how the Lord dealt with casual encounters. A momentary encounter with the man who had a withered hand and that man went home to work and to happiness. When blind Bartimaeus cried out, Jesus had time to stop. He waited to discover and talk to the one who had touched the hem of His garment. The greatness of His mission did not hinder Him from always having time for the individuals in these apparently "casual" encounters.
With the government upon His shoulder, will He have time for me? With all the tremendous happenings in the world, does He have time for me?
Do you ever wonder?
He is the very same Jesus; He always has the time and the heart, and He never changes. Having trusted Jesus for salvation, the Samaritan villagers needed to be grounded in God's Word, so they asked Him to stay and teach them. Now we know that Jesus was on His way to Galilee ( John 4:3) so, of course, He couldn't stay there any longer, could He? The Lord Jesus always has time for every honest seeker and nobody has a greater claim on Him because of position or success or ministry.
DO YOU REALLY, TRULY, DEEPLY KNOW THAT NOBODY IN ALL THE WORLD IS MORE IMPORTANT TO GOD THAN YOU ARE?
Drink in again the Words of Hebrews 13:5 (Amplified): God Himself has said, "I will not in any way fail you, nor give you up, nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake you, nor let you down, nor relax My hold on you. Assuredly not!"
Sometimes the awe in my heart is for two reasons:
(1) That the transcendent, sovereign, almighty God always has time for me;
(2) That in the light of His unconditional love, often I seem to have so little time for him.
Oh foolish heart! How can I do less than cherish the fantastic privilege of friendship with the world's reigning Lord?
