IT'S ALL ABOUT REDEMPTION
(Genesis 3:17) "The ground is cursed because of you."
I think about the Tsunami disaster, the ongoing anguish in Sudan, the mindless killings in Iraq, the futile quest for peace in the Middle East, the brutality here, there and everywhere. How can I begin to comprehend the horror, the grief, the raw agony of brutalized, devastated people, let alone find a reason for it all? It's fairly easy to donate money and say, "God is Sovereign and has a plan to work out His good purpose." Somehow even the truth of that does not always seem to fit nor satisfy the hurt deep down inside of me.
As I prayed, the Lord brought a few Scripture verses together to bring me a fresh slant on natural disasters and other tragedies.
The beginning of tragedy was when God spoke those awful words, (Genesis 3:17) "The ground is cursed because of you."
Since then (Romans 8:22) the whole creation has been moaning in pain, groaning, convulsing the earth in spasms which affect land and sea. Not just the earth but all mankind (Galatians 3:22) are in bondage, imprisoned by sin. Jesus said (John 12:31) that Satan is the prince of this world and while we know that true Christians are of God, (I John 5:19) the whole world around us is under the power of the evil one.
What is going on? Waiting (Rom.8:19-21), waiting ..waiting for Redemption. It's all about Redemption and that is the reason we are here.
Our glorious purpose is to reveal the REDEEMER, to bring His light to the darkest places of a world in night, to bring His fullness to empty lives, His comfort to broken hearts, His restoration to the destroyed, His supply to every need, His love and grace to the unlovely and unworthy ... such as we.
There is a Redeemer and there is nothing He cannot redeem. It's all about Redemption.
Here is a mystery. Because of human kind there came upon Paradise a world-wide curse and a desperate need for Redemption. In human kind the Almighty Redeemer came to be the WAY of Redemption and Paradise restored. Through human kind the Redeemer will be revealed.
It's all about Redemption.
